Marcus Hurtig
Marcus Hurtig is thrilled to see his dream of providing elite professional tennis coaching for all ages to the local subdivisions of Atlanta. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, at the age of six, Marcus, inspired by his mom, started playing the great game of tennis. By age 10 he was competing in state and national events throughout Australia. Through his teens, he represented both his state of Victoria and his country in team and individual events. At the age of 18, Marcus played on the Challenger/Satellite tour in and around Australia. In 1997, he competed in the Junior Australian Open as one of the top ten players in Australia. He continued to play in college, where he was coached by Billy Pate, and was an all-American in both singles and doubles and even received a top 15 singles ranking in the nation as well as top 5 in doubles.

Marcus has been teaching for over 15 years. He has worked with national and state ranked students under former top 100 ATP player, Michael Baroch, at the Melbourne Tennis School. But it is as an independent pro, that Marcus has found his true passion. For the past 12 years, he has built an incredible list of clients in the Atlanta area. Marcus teaches up to 300 people a week through lessons and has 17 active ALTA and USTA teams.
More recently, Marcus was the 2012 US Open Playoff winner (southern) with WTA player, Lindsay Lee Waters. He is currently ranked #3 in the country for Men’s 30’s USTA doubles and he and former touring pro, Francisco Rodriguez are currently have a 23-1 win to loss ratio. In 2010, he was the USTA National Champion in Men’s 5.5 Open Division in Las Vegas, NV and went 14-1 in competition with a win over former top 20 player, Chris Haggard in the finals.
